litany for this january evening

"let my prayer rise before you as incense, the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice"

for all of this good creation, the morning and evening, the warmth of the sun and the richness of rain, for all the good gifts of life and for the beauty of the earth, we lift our hands, O Lord;
let our prayers rise before you

for the peace of the world and all who dwell therein, for our world leaders, for our brothers and sisters across this world, for diversity and dialogue, we lift our hands, O Lord
let our prayers rise before you

for the joys of learning and the development of wisdom in addition to knowledge, for the development of our minds and the shaping of our intellect, we lift our hands, O Lord;
let our prayers rise before you

for all things spiritual, the workings of the Spirit in creation and in the Word, for the joys of the soul, we lift our hands, O Lord;
let our prayers rise before you

for all who are suffering or in need, for the ill, for the poor, for the homeless, for the stranger, for the oppressesd, those grieved of heart, those suffering from injustice or depression, fear or anxiety, despair or loneliness, we lift our hands, O Lord;
let our prayers rise before you

for the gift of salvation and the redemptive work of Christ, for God's good grace and the movement of the Spirit, for the intimacy of the trinity and grace which conquers death and sin, and for the blessing of faith, we lift our hands, O Lord;
let our prayers rise before you

in our laughter and in our tears, in our joys and in our frustrations, in this world and in our hope for heaven, in the life of the church, the communion of saints, the music of creation, the divine Word - in all things we give you praise, trusting in your mercy to uphold us and renew us in all of life, both in this world and the next, we offer these prayers in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord,
amen

"let my prayer rise before you as incense, the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice"
