today i saw a preview for manderlay, and thought it was worth investigating.
it was only then that i learned about the lars von trier USA - Land of Opportunities trilogy, and about the first movie of the trilogy: dogville.
has anyone seen it? anyone have opinions on the trilogy itself? i know that anything that could be interpreted as anti-american has a cloud of controversy surrounding it. i've never been a fan of michael moore; i don't like criticism that is inflammatory and full of shock value. but there are things about our country - or rather, human nature itself - that need to be criticized, and i wonder if these movies do a good job of communicating that criticism.
any thoughts from anyone who's more well-acquainted with these films?
