cold coffee and Jesus this afternoon,
that's what this moment is about,
cold coffee and a damaged world
and the rejuvenation of this tree and that river
and tomorrow's blue sky full of sunlight
awake am i
eyes snapped open like those of the third-day man
blinking from the darkness and stepping into light
(or is he the light? it gets poetic and confusing)
and stimulating to life the inner pulse of the world,
the quickening heartbeat of a world waking up
and drinking its morning coffee right on time
(and not five hours too late, like me.)
