Today is for beaches -
hot, heavy air full of leftover rain,
warm and sticky sun
ducking and weaving through
crowded and ashy clouds -
and for the first bathing suits
of the season, and the way our bodies
bulge and sag
differently than they did last year,
the sun and us
in a heated game
of coverup.
