cell phone static
fuzzy sight
like the beer goggles of sobriety
when the monastic life
grows out of control:
a tumor of quiet
and sterile worklings
pour and wash
past bleached texts
and linger never
in doorways that smell of vanilla
and pear and cranberry
or seclude and recoil
into the hallows
of flameproof bedposts
rich in image
poor in evening-lit
flopping and touch
sensitive conversation
in simplicity
of inner embrace or outer brush
of whimsical
girly-wishing
philosophical nights
(or a hug)
