all that glitters is glitter

i'm working two jobs this summer. two mall jobs, to be exact. i sort of feel like i am in high school again, except that i feel really old because most of my fellow part-time summer employees are significantly younger than i am.

i've now worked two days at papyrus. i hadn't thought that i was going to enjoy it very much, but it turns out that it's a wonderful place to be. i like the girls i work with and i like looking at all of the beautiful stationary and journals and handmade wrapping papers and cards. speaking of wrapping paper, i had to wrap two boxes for this one man tonight. he picked out a really pretty yellow handmade paper that was absolutely dripping with glitter. for the rest of the night, i was brushing and shaking glitter off of me. there is still so much glitter stuck to my arms and clinging to my clothes and caught in my hair. it's crazy. matt laughed at me because i had glitter all over my face. little does he know that soon, he, too, will find himself covered in glitter. and then i can laugh at him!

i start at ny and company tomorrow afternoon. and then papyrus tomorrow night. buh. i think that by the end of the summer, i'll never want to go to a mall ever again.

but for now, i'm hanging out with matt and a friend of ours from college. they are talking a lot of baseball (lucky...they went to an orioles game tonight while i was at work!). i like having people over. last night we had one of matt's fellow ph.d students over for dinner, tonight mike is staying over...it makes me happy to be the hostess.
